Proposal to outlaw salt in New York eateries
    Brazil Sun
    Friday 12th March, 2010

A state legislator in New York wants salt banned from pre-packaged and restaurant food.
Transfats are already banned in New York City restaurants, and have been for four years.

Now a state legislator is proposing that restaurants throughout the state be prohibited from using salt in preparing meals.

Felix Ortiz (pictured), holding the seat of Brooklyn in the New York State Assembly, is arguing that salt is a major contributor to heart attacks and strokes, and says health care costs are rising as a result.

He says salt is as major a cause of health ailments as smoking.

Ortiz is not the lone ranger in the state either. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is also getting tough on salt, as blood pressure levels in the city are being pushed sky-high. Bloomberg is aiming to reduce salt levels in restaurant foods by 25% over 5 years.

Ortiz however wants an outright ban. His proposed law, Bill A. 10129, says, "No owner or operator of a restaurant in this state shall use salt in any form in the preparation of food for consumption by customers."

Legislator wants salt banned in New York restaurants

More nanny-goat socialism insanity. The heart was designed to conk out after about 80 years. A swift heart attack is not a bad way to go. Instead we are now going to have senile, obese and cancer-riddled centenarians, clogging up the hospitals instead of happy octogenarians popping off with their clogged arteries. choose which.

    salt

Removing salt from the diet is a means of treating high blood pressure but salt does not cause high blood pressure so it serves no purpose to take the cure if you don’t have the problem. The sodium in salt is responsible for preventing many heart attacks.

    Salt Banned

At some point the government needs to focus on some important issues, banning salt from foods prepared in New York State should not be within the realm of their legislation.

    Salt, What's next?

OK so Transfats are already banned. Now they are trying for salt. What’s next? Next it will be pepper, then sugar, then garlic. Once the government gets into telling us what we can eat it won’t stop. They will say it’s for our own good. They have to protect the dumb people that can’t think for themselves. they consider it their duty to protect us from ourselves.
